I am the dreamer, founder, owner, and believer of Kith and Kin Collaboration. Kith and Kin Collaboration comes alongside artisans and artisan businesses nestled within the foothills of the Himalayas to design, create, and retail sustainable, small batch textiles and high quality handicrafts. The company exists to brazenly question every process in the creation of garments and handicrafts while striving to better the marketplace by empowering like minded artisans and artisan businesses. Kith and Kin is unapologetic in our radical efforts to pursue harmony, justice, and equality within the workforce and society at large. Kith and Kin is my most ardent attempt to accentuate worth and extol value within creation and humankind. Kith and Kin was birthed from a deep conviction that everyone and everything is created with a purpose. In harnessing this purpose we should be driven to create.
Our story began in 2015, when I met a woman named Vimla; her determined spirit and hands worn with experience were manifested through every garment she dyed and stitched together. The sacred practices and timeless techniques Vimla used in her production of naturally dyed fabrics ignited a desire within me to showcase her skills to the world of fashion. Her methodology encompassed everything sustainable and purely beautiful. After years of cultivating relationships with like minded artisans like Vimla and other local businesses, my role and purpose became undeniably evident. I was to establish a business that linked the eastern style of manufacturing and production to the purchasing power of the western market. By purchasing our products, you deliberately empower small business owners, artists, and their communities. You are joining hands on a journey to connect East and West, continent to continent, artist to consumer, one to another.
